It’s a happy Monday here at Dr. Openshaw’s office in beautiful Modesto Ca.
We love our patients!
We are currently educating a patient on the differences of a single dental implant opposed to a bridge or partial. Dental Implants are the next best thing to a natural tooth. They are supported by a titanium screw in the bone, they do not come out and you can eat and most importantly floss as normal. Most of our patients tell us that they prefer to get a dental implant once we educate them on the facts. The facts are that with a bridge you usually are prepping the two surrounding teeth to support the gap (see image below). This is unfortunate because unless the teeth need to be “capped” anyways this is unnecessary treatment on those teeth. A partial is a heavy and bulky piece of metal (see image below) that our patients tell us is heavy and awkward, especially to eat with. Partials can be removable, but taking out a tooth while you eat is embarrassing for most people. A dental implant blends right in, looks and feels as good as a natural tooth, does not harm the surrounding teeth and does not come out. If you or someone you know is missing a tooth or if you come into a situation where you are told you need to have a tooth pulled contact us! We can help you make the best decision for your mouth!
