As plaque accumulates it causes inflamation in the gums, which then leads to more and more problems if its not taken care of.
Make sure that you schedule an appointment with your dental hygeinist twice a year at least (and more if needed). Depending on the severity of the condition of your teeth and gums there may be more treatment needed. Listen to your dentist.
